Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)
Where Avatar: The Way of Water says it takes place, and where it was really shot.
The whole story takes place on another moon, so no scene was filmed on a real beach: the reefs were built in a capture stage in California and by effects artists in Wellington

The forest home of the Omatikaya
Sixteen years after the Na'vi drove the humans off Pandora, Jake Sully is chief of the Omatikaya clan. He and Neytiri are raising four children, and a human boy named Spider, raised by the scientists who stayed, is the children's close friend.
Set in Omatikaya forest home, Pandora — The forest settlement where Jake Sully is chief of the Omatikaya clan and raises his family.
A rainforest on the moon Pandora; in the film's world it is the home territory of the Omatikaya clan.
The RDA returns and hunts for Jake
The RDA comes back to colonize Pandora, bringing a recombinant version of Colonel Quaritch, a Na'vi body carrying a dead soldier's memories. While Jake fights a guerrilla campaign, Quaritch hunts for his headquarters and captures Jake's children.
Set in RDA colony and Jake's hideout region, Pandora — The area where the RDA sets up a new colony and Quaritch searches for Jake's headquarters.
A colony site and the forest around it on Pandora; the film gives no single named place.
Asylum with the reef people
To keep Spider's knowledge from leading Quaritch to the Omatikaya, Jake and his family sail to Pandora's eastern sea. The aquatic Metkayina clan grants them asylum, though Jake's children soon clash with the chief's sons.
Set in Metkayina village, Pandora's eastern sea — The reef village of the Metkayina clan, where the Sullys ask for asylum.
A village on reefs and islands off Pandora's eastern coast; the film calls it Awa'atlu.
Stranded at sea, saved by Payakan
Tonowari's son Aonung tempts Lo'ak onto a hunting trip and strands him in a dangerous part of the sea. A shark-like predator attacks, and Lo'ak is saved by Payakan, an exiled Tulkun, a highly intelligent whale-like creature.
Set in Open sea near the Metkayina reef, Pandora — A dangerous stretch of the sea where Lo'ak is left alone on a hunting trip.
Open water beyond the reef on Pandora's eastern sea.
The underwater Spirit Tree
Kiri connects to the Metkayina's underwater Spirit Tree and meets her mother Grace in a vision, but suffers a seizure and nearly drowns. Jake calls in the scientists Norm and Max, who diagnose epilepsy and warn that linking again could kill her.
Set in Metkayina Spirit Tree, Pandora — The Metkayina's underwater Spirit Tree, where Kiri links to Eywa and sees her mother Grace.
A sacred tree beneath the water that the Metkayina use to connect with their spiritual world.
The archipelago and the whaling ship
Quaritch tracks Norm and Max's aircraft to the Metkayina archipelago, commandeers a Tulkun-hunting ship and interrogates the villagers. When they will not talk, he orders the hunt moved close to Na'vi villages to draw Jake out.
Set in Metkayina archipelago and the RDA hunting ship, Pandora — The Metkayina islands that Quaritch reaches by tracking an aircraft, and the ship he takes to hunt Tulkun near Na'vi villages.
A chain of islands and reefs on Pandora's eastern sea, with a ship that hunts Tulkun for their valuable fluid.
