Maps of Movies is a free map of where films are set and where they were really shot. There are no accounts, no sign-in and no comments. You can read everything without giving us any information. This page lists what leaves your browser while you use the site, and who receives it.
1. What is sent, and to whom
| What | Who receives it | When |
|---|---|---|
| Page requests: IP address, browser type, pages visited | Cloudflare (hosting and delivery) | Every visit |
| Anonymous visit statistics (page views, country, device type) through Cloudflare Web Analytics | Cloudflare | Every visit; the analytics script is added by the hosting service and sets no cookies |
| Advertising script, ad requests and advertising cookies | Google AdSense (Google) | When the page loads and, where ads are shown, while you browse |
| Fonts (font style sheet and font files) | Google Fonts (Google) | When the map page loads |
| Map tiles and map styling for the base map | OpenFreeMap (tiles.openfreemap.org) | When the map is shown or moved |
| Film photos (thumbnails) | Wikimedia (upload.wikimedia.org, thumb.wikimedia.org) | When a photo is shown |
| Message, optional reply e-mail, and the place you were viewing, if you send feedback | Web3Forms (form processing service), which forwards it to the site owner | Only when you press Send in the feedback form or on the Contact page |
Links to Google Maps, Apple Maps, Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons and other source pages are ordinary links. Nothing is sent to those sites unless you click one, and then their own policies apply.
2. Advertising and cookies
This site may show ads served by Google AdSense. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google Ads Settings. You can learn how Google uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, a consent message lets you choose whether advertising cookies and personalized ads are used. You can change your choice later through the privacy and cookie settings link that message provides.
The site itself sets no cookies. It stores four small items in your browser's local storage, which are never sent to us: your chosen language, your distance unit (km or miles), your saved favorite films, and the date of the last news item you saw. You can clear them in your browser settings.
3. What we do not collect
There are no user accounts, passwords, comments or purchases on this site. We do not run our own analytics database and we do not sell personal information.
4. Feedback and contact
If you send a message, the text you type, the optional e-mail address you give for a reply, the film or place you were viewing and your screen language are passed to Web3Forms and delivered to the site owner. They are used only to read and answer your message and to fix the map. To have a message deleted, write to us through the Contact page.
5. Your choices
- Block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The map still works.
- Turn off personalized ads at adssettings.google.com.
- Use the consent message (EEA, UK, Switzerland) to accept or refuse advertising cookies.
6. Changes
When the services above change, this page is updated first and the date at the top changes.
