Scenes and places

The palace where the lost princess begins

A queen near death is saved by a magic golden flower, and she gives birth to Rapunzel, whose hair holds its power. Gothel slips into the castle at night to cut a lock of it, then carries the baby away.

Set in Palace of the Kingdom of Corona — The royal castle where the queen gives birth and the magic-haired princess is born.

Corona's look is modeled on the real island abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel in France.

The tower where Rapunzel waits for her birthday

Rapunzel turns 18 tomorrow and begs Gothel to let her see the floating lights up close, but Gothel refuses. Then a thief on the run, Flynn Rider, climbs in with the lost princess's tiara, and Rapunzel knocks him out and hides him.

Set in Rapunzel's tower in the woods — A hidden tower where Rapunzel grows up and where Flynn Rider takes refuge.

Her first steps outside

Rapunzel steps outside for the first time since infancy. She is thrilled by the grass and the breeze and then sick with guilt over lying to Gothel, while Flynn tells her a little rebellion is part of growing up.

Set in The woods and valley around the tower — The country between Rapunzel's tower and the kingdom.

The pub full of wanted men

Flynn leads Rapunzel into a pub where thugs try to grab the wanted thief. Rapunzel pleads for her dream and charms the thugs into showing their softer sides, and when royal guards show up they help the two escape.

Set in Snuggly Duckling pub — A rough pub full of thugs, where Flynn is a wanted man.

The cave filling with water

Trapped in a cave that fills with water, the two believe they will not get out. Flynn confesses his real name, and Rapunzel lights up her hair to show a hidden way out.

Set in Flooding cave — A cave that floods fast with an exit hidden underwater.

The kingdom festival for the lost princess

The next day Rapunzel and Eugene walk into the kingdom as it celebrates its lost princess. Maximus the horse agrees to a one-day truce, and Rapunzel enjoys the biggest day of her life.

Set in Town below the Corona castle — The island town below the castle where a festival honors the lost princess.

The town's look is modeled on the island town of Mont-Saint-Michel, as for the castle.

The boat on the lake of lanterns

Eugene rows Rapunzel out onto the lake so she can watch the lanterns rise. She gives him the tiara and they confess their love.

Set in Lake near the Corona castle — The lake where the lanterns are released.

The road back to the tower

After the Stabbington brothers tie Eugene up, Rapunzel thinks he abandoned her. Gothel stages a rescue and takes her back to the tower.

Set in Rapunzel's tower in the woods — The same hidden tower, now a place she is taken back to.
