Scenes and places
The control room under the cabin
Two technicians in a spotless underground facility joke over coffee while they prepare something far larger than a weekend trip. Their calm sets the tone: what looks like a horror setup is a job.
Set in Underground facility — Two technicians run the whole weekend from a hidden control room, betting on what will happen to the students.
A stand-in for a secret installation; only a few exterior-style wide shots came from a real aerospace building.
The apartment before the trip
Dana packs for the weekend while her roommate Jules talks her into leaving the books behind. A planned set-up with a friend of Curt's hangs over the trip.
Set in The students' apartment — Dana and Jules get ready for a weekend at Curt's cousin's cabin.
An ordinary Vancouver apartment standing in for the students' home.
The gas station with the wrong kind of welcome
The friends stop for gas and directions and meet an attendant who is hostile and oddly knowing. He points them up the road to the Buckner place and leaves them with a pointed warning about the return trip.
Set in Gas station on the road to the cabin — A gas station attendant gives the group directions up Tillerman Road to the old Buckner place.
A roadside house dressed as a gas station.
The cabin and its cellar
The group settles into the cabin and explores the cellar. Dana finds a diary and reads from it, setting off what the facility has been waiting for.
Set in The Buckner cabin — Curt's cousin's cabin by the lake, with a cellar full of odd objects.
A remote cabin; no filming source for its exterior or cellar was found.
Running through the woods
Night falls and the group is hunted outside the cabin. Their attempts to run keep leading back to someone else's plan.
Set in Woods around the cabin — The students are chased through the forest around the cabin.
A canyon park in the mountains east of Vancouver.
Filmed at Coquihalla Canyon Provincial Park, BC — The woods were shot about 100 miles east of Vancouver at this park; the coordinate is the park, not the exact spot. Google Maps · Apple Maps
How to get there:
The collapsed tunnel and the ravine
Trying to drive out, the survivors find the tunnel blocked. A last attempt across a ravine on a motorcycle shows the edge of the place is not what it seems.
Set in Mountain tunnel and ravine — The road out runs through the tunnel the attendant mentioned, and a ravine beyond it.
No filming source found for the tunnel or the ravine.
The lake and the dock
Dana surfaces from the water and climbs onto the dock, still believing she is on her own.
Set in Lake and dock — An RV crashes into the lake and Dana swims to a dock.
No filming source names the lake.
The vault of monsters
Marty takes Dana down a hidden elevator into the facility, where she finds cages of every kind of monster. She works out that the objects in the cellar decided which ones came after them.
Set in Underground complex and monster cells — A hidden elevator leads Dana and Marty down to rows of cells.
Built as a set; nothing of it exists as a real place.
