Valerian and Laureline serve as partners in the human federation police on Alpha. The city they patrol holds thousands of alien species.

The Kirian market in another dimension

On a mission to retrieve the last converter animal, Valerian breaks up a meeting between a black market dealer and two hooded figures. The pair recover the converter, and Valerian takes an energy pearl.

Set in Planet Kirian marketplace — A market on planet Kirian in an alternate dimension, where a black-market deal is under way.

Orders and an interstation summit on Alpha

The commander tells them the centre of the station has been irradiated by an unknown force. Laureline and Valerian are assigned to protect him at a summit, and Laureline keeps the converter against his wishes.

Valerian chases the kidnappers of the commander into the irradiated area and crashes his spaceplane. Laureline has to find him.

Laureline is kidnapped and presented as the choice course at the tribe's emperor's dinner. Valerian sneaks in with the help of a shape-shifter named Bubble.

Into the heart of the irradiated zone

The two venture into the irradiated area and find an antique spacecraft, and the humanoids from Valerian's dream.
