Tomoko and Masami swap a legend about a videotape that brings a call and death in seven days. Tomoko admits she and her friends watched a strange tape last week, and the night turns frightening.

The funeral (1998)

Reiko, a journalist chasing the legend, goes to her niece's funeral. There she learns that three of Tomoko's friends died at the very same moment, and she starts to pull at the thread.

The Izu resort cabin (1998)

Reiko finds an unmarked videotape in the cabin where the four stayed and watches it. Soon after she sees an apparition and gets a phone call with the same screeching sound, and she takes the tape and leaves.

Reiko asks her psychic ex-husband Ryuji to study a copy of the tape. They find a hidden message in an Oshima dialect and decide to go there, but first Reiko catches her son Yoichi watching the tape.

Set in Reiko's home / Ryuji's university — Reiko asks her ex-husband to look at a copy of the tape.

Izu Oshima (1998)

On Oshima, Reiko and Ryuji learn about Shizuko Yamamura, the woman on the tape, and her public ESP demonstration. A vision shows that Shizuko's young daughter Sadako lay behind a death at that event.
